2014 Shell Eco-Marathon
MEET the 2014 TEam:
THE 2014 PROTOTYPES
Prototype: electric shark
running smooth on the test track
Team Captain Brayan Cruz, Mechanic Chris Singleton, and Driver Rochelle Mesubed have been hard at work building and testing the Electric Prototype. A Shell Eco-Marathon veteran, Brayan has been applying all the lessons learned from previous events to make this year's Electric Prototype entry, the Electric Shark, the most efficient and sophisticated yet to come from Team AVT. Each road test makes the car better and sharper and more efficient.
The Electric Shark is built from recycled components, and the chassis includes everything from an office chair and hospital equipment to scooters and plastic tubs. The chassis sits very low for tight handling and high speed cornering, and uses a hub drive rear wheel with a custom built controller.

Prototype: 100% Ethanol
The green panther is unleashed
Team members Jetsun and Camin are working around the clock on the Green Panther Ethanol Prototype car, and they are making it roar! Starting with a 50cc Honda GX50 engine, generously donated by Honda Power Equipment, Jetsun is installing fuel injection and converting it to run on ethanol. The chassis has been scratch built by Camin from recycled components, like wind turbine blades and lawn mower parts.
They are taking cues from the Electric Shark and have been constantly improving the frame to sit lower for better handling, allowing for less braking and lower fuel consumption to stay on pace. Driver Muzdalifah's first tests came back with no problems and both thumbs up!
