2016 Shell Eco-marathon team
urban concept or prototype?
The Urban Concept vehicles are designed to be similar to today’s production passenger cars. They must have everything from disc brakes to power steering and windshield wipers.
Prototype vehicles are generally 3-wheel vehicles designed to be super light-weight.
Shell Eco-marathon vehicles can run in 6 energy categories: Gasoline; Diesel; Alternative Fuel (including Gas-to-Liquid and 100% Ethanol); Compress Natural Gas; Hydrogen Electric; and Battery Electric.

battery electric prototypeAlthough only 2 of our vehicles went to Detroit in 2016, work continued on the electric Prototype. A new body designed was begun and progress was made into developing the required custom-made controller for increased efficiency and reliability.
Work will continue on the Battery Electric prototype for the 2017 competition. |
