2016 Shell Eco-marathon!
We've had a great start to our 2015/2016 build season, with the added boost of new team members and the support of our sponsors. The team has been hard at work with innovative ideas for vehicle designs, and we've already had a chance to complete some testing at the NCCAR test track in eastern NC. WHAT IS THE AVT TEAM? AVT stands for 'Advanced Vehicle Technologies,' and our team is based at James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC. Our program prepares students each year to take part in the international Shell Eco-marathon and, also, introduces them to related industries and career options. Getting ready for this competitive event propels students to fast-track their learning of basic engineering principles, fuel-efficient automotive design, and advanced energy technologies. For the AVT Team 'Let's Do It Again,' 2016 will be our 6th year participating in the Shell Eco-marathon. We are known for our hard work, for overcoming many challenges, and for creatively building our vehicles out of re-used and re-purposed parts. Innovative use of junk? We believe it's the spirit of sustainable transportation. WHERE: James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC FOUNDED BY: Rick Lewis, Educator/Program Director |
